Painful joints can plague dogs just as they do people. Osteoarthritis is an inflammation of the joint affecting one in five Australian dogs. It’s often caused by wear and tear, but may also result from injury.
The condition can be extremely debilitating, with arthritic dogs experiencing swelling, pain and stiffness. There has been no cure to date; only management options, including drugs and dietary supplements.
Greencross Vets and Regeneus, a Sydney based pioneering biotech company, recently announced a national licence agreement for Adicell, the first Australian stem-cell therapy treating osteoarthritis in dogs.
Selected and accredited Greencross Vet Clinics will offer Adicell to dogs suffering from osteoarthritis, launching first in Brisbane, followed by Adelaide, Gold Coast, Melbourne and soon to be launching in Townsville.
Adicell is an advanced technology that uses the dogs own natural regeneration system to heal painful arthritic joints.
Unlike major surgery, it is a non-invasive, one-day only procedure and involves implanting stem cells into the affected joint.
Adicell has demonstrated remarkable results in the first 30 dogs treated so far in our Greencross Brisbane practice at Kessels Road.
