Rayya graduated from Murdoch University in WA in 2007. She worked in mixed practice for 8 years and in 2016, she decided it was time to just focus on small animal medicine. She is quite happy to tackle all species and loves treating exotic species (wildlife & birds) and pocket pets. She has also discovered a niche for behavioural medicine and is very passionate about attending to your special needs fur babies. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with the family and chasing after her toddler Olivia and 3 fur kids, Shepo (Aussie Shepherd), Punchkin (cross breed) & Lewi (Persian) & two fish (fish 1 and fish 2). She’s also a very avid veterinary blogger and obsessed with pet photography.
Renee joined the Greencross team in February 2016. Renee has a background in Retail and IT Management. She grew up on a farm near Warrnambool and has been around animals all her life. Renee is kept busy working reception and in the back office managing the day to day business of Greencross Ballarat and Creswick. With 2 children and a new puppy life is busy keeping up with all that is going on.
Rae graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 2014. She may be the newest member of our team but Rae has exceptional medical knowledge and brings so much enthusiasm into her work. Rae particularly enjoys surgery, anaesthesia, medicine and working with Avian animals. In her spare time Rae enjoys playing volleyball, cooking, scuba diving and spending time with family and friends. She has two dogs, a beagle names Cindy and a Ridgeback named Pepper.
Ruth completed her veterinary degree at University of Queensland in 2003 and she commenced her career working with small animals and dairy cattle at a practice near Ipswich, QLD. After two years, Ruth worked in the UK for 18 months at a number of small animal practices. On her return, Ruth settled back in Brisbane and worked at Greencross Vets Chermside initially as a veterinary associate and then as the Veterinary Director. In 2010, Ruth went on maternity leave and moved to Clunes in Victoria. She worked part time at the Creswick clinic for over 5 years before recently moving to Anglesea with her family, however, Ruth still returns intermittently to locum at both the Ballarat and Creswick clinics so she can continue to enjoy her love of dentistry and soft tissue surgery. She has two children - Morgan (6) and Kate (4) who currently keep her so busy that she has not yet had time to acquire any pets!
A Melbourne graduate, Michelle transferred to Ballarat from our Greencross Point Cook practice, providing valuable additional skills to our veterinary team. She has worked in both metropolitan and regional practices and values the close client relationship that our practice promotes. Michelle has great interest in behavioural medicine and is ready to help you find a solution to any behavioural dilemmas that you may encounter with your pet. She is keen to keep up to date with current knowledge and presently is undertaking studies to sit her membership exams in the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. The love of her life is Mason, a handsome smooth collie.
Nikki has been a part of the team for more than10 years. She considers herself fortunate to be involved in Puppy Preschool classes and helping clients coming to terms with the grief of losing a loved animal as well as “playing” on reception. She is married to Justin and together they have 4 spunky kids! Family and friends mean the world to Nikki and she deems herself extremely spoilt in this department. Nikki loves the beach, camping, dancing, exercise and of course red wine! She adores the smell of newborn [human] babies and “puppy breath”!!
Melissa or “Mel” as she’s known about the place, is originally from Mornington Peninsula where she worked in a mixed animal clinic for many years. She has been with our practice for 10 years now. In that time, she has watched the clinic grow and has enjoyed being part of an increasing team focused on ensuring caring, compassionate and up to date pet care. Melissa has a passion for dog behaviour and training, has undertaken studies in this area and is always happy to offer support and behavioural advice. In her spare time, Mel enjoys spending time out of town on her small farm with her two children, her horses and five dogs.
A former primary school teacher, Annette decided for a career change at the age of 53. Having bred miniature ponies for over 30 years, she is no stranger to animals. Since joining the Greencross team she has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and microchipping accreditation. A mother of 4 grown children, Annette is now also a grandmother of two. Married to Rob, they have a 20-acre farm in Warrenheip. Annette & Rob have a menagerie of animals, ranging from cats and dogs through to miniature ponies and a Galah called “Rory”. Annette is an avid runner; and has competed in long distance events such as the New York and Paris Marathons. She enjoys music, and plays piano, guitar and flute. Annette loves travelling, snowboarding, the beach, surfing, and of course animals. Whew!
Hi My name is Bec, I have been with Greencross for a few years now. I work at Reception, so I assist with making appointments, answering phones, helping clients and staff where needed. I have just started training to become a Veterinary Nurse, which I look forward to doing. My weekends and spare time are spent with my family. I have a husband of 13 years and two kids who keep me super busy. I enjoy working at Greencross Vets because of the lovely clients and their animals I get to meet and also the team.
Tori is a new member of the team who is enjoying building on her knowledge of animal husbandry and native wildlife. She is currently undertaking Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is excited to learn more about behaviour and physiology. Tori grew up in Smythesdale among many pets, including horses, goats, chooks and ferrets. She now cares for one retired pony and a Border Collie/Koolie cross named Ned. Tori's future goals include travelling more, owning a property big enough to keep heaps of rescue animals, and living sustainably.
In 2014 Evelyn quit her career in Hospitality to follow her dream of working with animals, since then she has joined Greencross and never looked back, she enjoys all areas of her job and is particularly interested in pediatric nursing and critical care, which she hopes to further her studies in.
Evelyn has a serious soft spot for rescue babies, so much so that all of her pets have been rescued or adopted, she also fosters and hand rears kittens and hopes one day that she can also accommodate foster dogs and puppies.
When she is not wrangling her two children, two cats, two dogs, and foster kittens, she enjoys going spear fishing, camping and renovating with her partner.
Lauren is a Qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse who received her Certificate at Victoria University in Melbourne. She began working with the Greencross Ballarat Clinic in 2012. Lauren grew up in Warrenheip on a few acres of land surrounded by many animals and is currently living in Ballarat with her partner of 9 years and her Persian cat Zara. Lauren also has two dogs, a staffy called Zeebo and a Pug called Mia. Her interest at work include pathology, health and nutrition and soft tissue surgeries. Outside of work Lauren enjoys getting down to the beach whenever possible and planning future holiday destinations.
Megan has worked for the Greencross team for 3 years bringing wither her some experience having worked in a few Vet Clinics throughout Australia. Megan has a mischievous sense of humour and can brighten up anyone’s day. Megan is currently undertaking her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Megan particularly enjoys dentistry and surgery and devotes her spare time to her cat Gus and her Guinne Pigs Giggle. Pie and Giget. She enjoys karate, badminton and chocolates.
Ashley is one of our youngest members of our team, but don’t let that fool you! Her enthusiasm and devotion to becoming a Veterinary Nurse makes her a perfect fit for our team. Ashley is currently completing her studies in Veterinary Nursing. In her spare time Ash devotes her time to her furry friends Paris and Poppy and also enjoys playing the guitar, cooking, spending time with friends and road trips.
